Meet Grace Gaylord, a.k.a The Graceful Baker [About Me: Part 1]

Hi, there! I'm Grace and I'm so excited you're here.

I am the force behind The Graceful Baker® on Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok and YouTube. I am a royal icing cookie artist that creates accessible cookie decorating content made to inspire, educate, and satisfy.

Completely self-taught as a cookie artist, I have poured countless hours into mastering royal icing and growing a community of loyal followers who turn to me both for decorating tutorials and royal icing prowess, as well as a source for stress-relief, highly effective child entertainment (it’s true!) and a side of education about a variety of topics.

Some of the most popular collections I have created include Pride Month 2021, a set celebrating Black women’s beauty and contributions to history, Super Bowl LVI, various diverse holidays (such as Lunar New Year, Diwali, Easter, Eid al-Adha, Rosh Hashanah, and Christmas), and my signature shape series sets (like hearts, circles, trees and clovers) where I do a wide variety of different designs with one shape.

Born and raised in Vermont, my roots are in the woods but my heart is here in the big city of NYC.

    1. Love that!! There will definitely be resources somewhat like the classes here on the blog at some point 🙂

  1. Looking forward to learning more about decorating cookies! Totally enjoyed the pumpkin and Halloween classes in Sept/Oct. Surprised myself on how nicely they turned out (well except the Halloween pumpkin. The orange icing bleed into the face features and the cookie ended up very strange looking — of course it still tasted good).

    1. That makes me so happy to hear!! Can't wait to create more resources like that that live on this blog 🙂

  2. This looks super nice so far!
Excited to see everything once it’s done

  8. Hi Grace, following you from IG. I feel stupid but can't find any content but the intro. What the secret to finding the rest?

  11. I love your design! You are such an inspiration. I’ve been making cutout cookies since I was a young girl with my grandmother and I know make them with my kids.
Have you ever made some Super Bowl designs?

    1. hi! so sorry I'm going to be unhelpful here... I never use a color straight out of a tube and usually mix colors from scratch. this would be red plus yellow and probably a bit of brown?

  12. Hi Grace, I'm obsessed with your TikTok videos!! Have you ever done anything The Nightmare Before Christmas related?

    1. I have not! and probably won't as I'm wary of using any copyrighted imagery from the show :/

  13. I recently watched your video with the plants and cactus in baskets where did you get the cookie cutter??

  14. Do you still offer classes or will you offer classes in the future focused on African American/Black cookie designs? I'm so happy I found your classes and I can't wait to get started!

  15. Do you have a gluten free version for the cookies? If someone has already asked this question, I apologize. I couldn't find it anywhere!

  16. Hi! I am so enjoying your classes that everyone has told me that I needed to go into business, so I have. Here’s what I’m wondering, can I sell cookies that I have learned to make from your classes? Do I need to give you credit for your ideas and can I use your images to post on my selections order form? I love you and certainly do not want to step on any toes. Thank you, Grace, your classes may have changed my life!

    1. hello! so glad you're enjoying the classes! totally fine to sell cookies with the class designs! not ok to use my images though as those are copyrighted and it's best to make your own samples for order forms anyway 🙂 have fun!!
