cookies in mind! I was very intentional with the designs (keeping it to just five of the classics), while simplifying and streamlining wherever possible. I don’t require an unnecessary tools (the piping tip for the ribbons will make your life SO much easier) and the lettering is as simple as can be. No tracing or projector needed!

The class is listed as advanced beginner/intermediate as this is definitely a step up from beginner, but really anyone can tackle these designs and succeed! Remember, just because the designs are simple does *not* make them easy 😉

The best part? The sky’s the limit on how you can customize this set for your friend/family member/client!

Graduation Cookies

What makes these Graduation cookies so special?

When it came time to come up with this advanced beginner/intermediate Graduation class, I decided to go classic and streamlined in the designs. What says graduation better than a cap, gown, diploma, banner and celebratory banner?!

The designs of this set are also quite squarely in the “advanced beginner” realm so that they’re approachable and still elevated enough for anyone to tackle.

This set uses a custom set of cutters from The Sweet Designs Shoppe, but these are all fairly common shapes (maybe except for the banner) and you can use whatever you can easily get a hold of!

I chose to use black in the class samples set as black is commonly used in graduation sets and I wanted to be able to give y’all ALL my black icing tips and tricks for success.

Only on rare occasions do I use a piping tip, and this is one of those! I will include them when they make your life a million times easier, and that’s what the tip used in this class does for the ribbons. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

The best parts of this class?

First… I have simplified these designs as much as humanly possible so you can streamline your production line of cookies!

Second… the color palette is just 4 colors and is completely customizable to your graduate’s school colors

Third… Speaking of customizable, you can write any graduation year (the workbook has been updated with 2024 number guides) and any 4-letter word (or name) your heart desires on the banners! (You can even flood in the entire banner and write something longer like “congratulations!”)

Fourth… Since writing is fairly unavoidable with a graduation set, to keep this class at the advanced beginner level I’ve kept the lettering simple and very easy to write freehanded.

Royal icing skills covered in this class:

  • 2 consistency outline and flood
  • detail piping with soft peak and medium peak piping consistencies
  • how to prevent craters
  • piping bows
  • tips for success with black icing

You will learn how to decorate (from start to finish) FIVE Graduation Cookies

Free Resources for this Set

For every class set, I still produce my usual YouTube videos. One is a sped-up compilation of the full set (at a more reasonable pace than the fast video above) and the second is a tutorial. This tutorial video is *not* at all like the class video.

The free YouTube tutorial video (below) shows each cookie in real-time with a voiceover, however, it is much shorter than the class videos and does not include any additional resources (classes include a 60+ page workbook).

I deliver my class videos as if I was teaching a live class, so a 20 minute YouTube tutorial can easily be a 2 hour class video. Either way, I like to provide different levels of information with different levels of investment. Choose the path that best suits you!
