Look no further for the easiest Saint Patrick’s Day sugar cookies decorated with royal icing! Gotta love some easy shamrock cookies 🙂 This Beginner Shamrocks class is made to be as accessible as possible: I bring you 9 (yes, NINE!) different shamrock designs!
Inspired by my epic clover shape series set a few years ago, this Beginner Shamrocks class is sure to make you feel lucky!
A small selection of the sets I’ve made are offered as online cookie decorating classes. For a full selection of all cookie sets I’ve made (both those that are classes and those that are detailed in full on the blog), click here.

I had so much fun taking more complex designs from the inspiration set and turning them into much more accessible versions for beginners and beyond. Plus some new designs, of course. But we’re not compromising on design or quality!
We’re talking a variety of textures, several different applications of wet on wet, and both realistic and not-so-realistic cheeky designs. Whether you’re looking to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day or just love a good shamrock moment, this Beginner Shamrocks class is for you!
This set was made with at-home beginner cookiers in mind, so it uses ONE consistency, ONE shape and 3 colors. Yes, you heard that right! Now that’s my kind of beginner class! Fewer consistencies and colors = less time spent prepping. One shape and = less money spent on supplies.
Saint Patrick’s Day Sugar Cookies ~ Easy Shamrock Cookies
What makes these Saint Patrick’s Day sugar cookies so special?
First… You get to make 9 super fun designs all on one cutter! Now we love a good moment to save money.
Second… As always with my beginner classes, there is just ONE consistency. Let’s cut that prep time in half!
Third… This set uses just 3 colors! Again, who doesn’t want to save time prepping?!
Fourth… There are NO extra fancy decorations! Just need a tool with a rounded end for the crackle.
Royal icing skills covered in this class:
- One consistency outline and flood
- Working with tipless bags (and cutting tipless bags)
- Piping and flooding with a thick flood
- Crackle technique
- Wet on wet technique
- Basic line work with a flood consistency
- Flooding in sections
You will learn how to decorate (from start to finish) NINE easy shamrock cookies

“Shamrock” Shamrock Cookie
Who knew something so simple could be so freaking cool?!

“Beer” Shamrock Cookie
Definitely the cheekiest design in this set, this beer shamrock is a nod to one of the favorite activities of St. Patty’s Day!

“Realistic” Shamrock Cookie
I always like to throw in a more realistic design, and this simple (yet effective) wet on wet does the trick!

“Jumper” Shamrock Cookie
This design reminded me not just of a sweater, but a British jumper. Hence, the name 😉

“Crackle” Shamrock Cookie
It ain’t a beginner set without crackle, amiright?!

“Swirls” Shamrock Cookie
Here we apply a classic wet on wet technique with a little rainbow twist.

“Plaid” Shamrock Cookie
Two-layer plaid has become an all-time favorite, especially on a beginner set!

“Leopard” Shamrock Cookie
I’m telling you: leopard goes with EVERYTHING 😉

“Marbled” Shamrock Cookie
Definitely the most abstract of the bunch, but dare I say the most fun to do?!

Free Resources for this Set
For every class set, I still produce my usual YouTube videos. One is a sped-up compilation of the full set (at a more reasonable pace than the fast video above) and the second is a tutorial. This tutorial video is *not* at all like the class video.
The free YouTube tutorial video (below) shows each cookie in real-time with a voiceover, however, it is much shorter than the class videos and does not include any additional resources (classes include a 60+ page workbook).
I deliver my class videos as if I was teaching a live class, so a 20 minute YouTube tutorial can easily be a 2 hour class video. Either way, I like to provide different levels of information with different levels of investment. Choose the path that best suits you!
